Amistom

A.M.I.STOM ODV ETS is a volunteer-led, nonprofit association serving people with ostomies and incontinence in Italy’s Marche region. It promotes initiatives to protect their rights and access to appropriate safeguards, and is affiliated with FAIS, the Federation of Associations for People with Incontinence and Ostomies. The association relies primarily on the voluntary, unpaid work of its members.

A.M.I.STOM provides information and resources for people living with a stoma and those supporting them. Its materials explain different types of stomas and cover care for colostomies, ileostomies and urostomies, including guidance on stomatherapists and suppliers of medical supplies. The website also addresses practical aspects of daily life, such as taking the first steps after surgery, physical activity and travel, and features personal stories and a travel card resource. In addition, the association shares information on Italian and regional legislation and the international rights of people with stomas. People can learn how to become members or support its work through donations and Italy’s 5 per mille tax designation.
