About AI Uruguay
Amnistía Internacional Uruguay is a global and independent organization dedicated to defending human rights worldwide. With over 10 million individuals, we are committed to combating injustice and exposing human rights violations. Established in 1961 in London, Amnistía Internacional became involved with Uruguay in the 1970s, campaigning against torture.
In 1985, the Uruguay Section was established during the country's democratic opening. Our main objective is to shed light on human rights violations and prevent them from continuing. We accomplish this through research, advocacy, education, and mobilization efforts.
