About AMOU
AMOU, the Australian Maritime Officers Union, has a proud and rich history dating back to 1880. It was formed in 1993 through the amalgamation of the Merchant Services Guild and the Australian Stevedoring Supervisors Association. Representing professional merchant marine officers, the AMOU has been at the forefront of advancing the maritime and stevedoring industries for nearly 130 years.
As a registered union under the Fair Work Act, AMOU works tirelessly to negotiate improved wages, conditions, and safety measures for its members. It acts as a strong advocate at both federal and state legal jurisdictions, prioritizing the best interests of its members and the industry as a whole.
