Ampleforth has been home to a Community of Benedictine monks since 1802. The Abbey church is the centre of monastic life and everyone is welcome to join the Community for Mass and the Divine office. We welcome all visitors from those wishing to explore a Vocation to those simply wanting to enjoy a walk through the valley.

About Ampleforth Abbey
Ampleforth Abbey Trust is a brand that encompasses the life and works of the monks of the Abbey of St Laurence. Governed by the Rule of St Benedict, the Constitutions of the English Benedictine Congregation, Canon Law, and Civil law, Ampleforth Abbey upholds a rich heritage. The Ampleforth Abbey Trust was established in 1944 and is a registered charity responsible for the formation and ministry of Benedictine monks, as well as the maintenance of the monastic community, its property, education, and the welcoming of guests. The trust also engages in parish work in dioceses of the Roman Catholic Church. The Trust is overseen by a board of trustees, which includes both lay and monastic members.
