AMR Review is a renowned brand that focuses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and its economic impacts. They aim to raise awareness and promote action at an international level to address the low levels of investment in research and development of new antimicrobial drugs. The Review, commissioned by the UK Prime Minister, operates independently with support from the UK Department of Health, HM Treasury, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The Wellcome Trust provides funding and hosts the review team at its London headquarters. Led by Jim O'Neill, the Review examines the economic issues surrounding AMR and analyzes the potential impacts of failing to contain its spread. They also explore the hindrances to investment in new antimicrobials and suggest interventions for stimulating research and development.
The Review's ultimate goal is to develop a globally coordinated package of actions to combat AMR, with interim recommendations to be released by August 2015 and final recommendations by August 2016. Stay updated with AMR Review on Twitter (@ReviewOnAMR). Contact them at info@amr-review.
