Amref

Amref Health Africa is a health-focused nonprofit working toward a healthier Africa. Formerly known as Amref Flying Doctors, the organization adopted its current name to better reflect its work and its connection with its African parent organization. Its mission is rooted in the belief that good health helps people care for themselves and find a way out of poverty.

Amref Health Africa supports stronger healthcare through several connected areas of work. It trains healthcare providers, helps provide basic medical care, and offers health education and awareness. Its initiatives also focus on increasing access to medical care, improving water and hygiene, and supporting people to make informed decisions about their bodies and health. The organization invites individuals to contribute through donations, petitions, campaigns, and other forms of support. These contributions help improve healthcare across the African continent. Amref Health Africa also shares updates about its projects and personal stories through its newsletter, helping supporters learn about the work their contributions make possible.
