Institutul Ana Aslan

The National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics “Ana Aslan” is a Romanian medical institution specializing in the health and wellbeing of older adults. Founded in 1952 as the world’s first institute dedicated to gerontology and geriatrics, it continues a tradition of research, prevention, and patient care. The institute describes its mission as supporting active longevity by protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of older people.

Its services include continuous and day hospitalisation, outpatient consultations, medical rehabilitation, and diagnostic investigations. Outpatient specialties include geriatrics and gerontology, dermatovenerology, gastroenterology, urology, ear, nose and throat care, and rehabilitation. Day hospital services are also available in rehabilitation, ENT, ophthalmology, endocrinology, and cardiology. The institute operates three locations: its central Bucharest site, an Otopeni campus offering integrated multidisciplinary care, and a specialist outpatient clinic in Bucharest. Its facilities include medical analysis and radiology and imaging laboratories, alongside research laboratories. The institute also provides patient information, appointment access, and a two-week “Ana Aslan” treatment course at its Otopeni site.
