Anand Neelakantan is an Indian author, screenwriter, columnist and public speaker best known for mythological fiction that reimagines Indian epics and Puranic stories for modern readers. He has written 16 books in English and one in Malayalam. His million-copy bestseller Asura was included in Amazon’s “100 Books by Indian Authors to Read in a Lifetime,” and his other works include the Ajaya series, the Baahubali: Before the Beginning trilogy, Nala Damayanti and The Asura Way.
His books explore familiar myths through fresh perspectives, often bringing together ancient traditions and contemporary themes. His latest title, Mahishasura: The Legend of Kumarikandam, retells the Mahishasura story in a science-fiction setting. Neelakantan also writes screenplays for television and streaming productions, including Siya Ke Ram, Mahabali Hanuman, Sarfarosh and TAJ: Divided by Blood.
