Andrew Badr

Andrew Badr is a programmer, writer, and explorer whose work spans internet art, creative technology, and computer science. His projects invite people to rethink familiar digital experiences and explore new forms of expression. Asemica, created in collaboration with Emily Edelman and Dima Ofman, uses a generative algorithm to compose abstract typographic characters inspired by letters and symbols; a limited series was released on Art Blocks.

Deconditioning Stickers reframe app notification badges to challenge habitual attention and tapping. Your World of Text, launched in 2009, is an infinite, real-time writing space where visitors can create together or make private worlds. Badr has also researched automata theory, presenting work on hyper-minimization at CIAA 2008 and co-publishing a related paper.
