Anidan Italia is the Italian branch of Anidan, a small international non-governmental organisation founded in 2002 by Rafael Selas Colorado to support vulnerable children in Kenya. Its work is centred on Lamu Island, where poverty, limited access to clean water and food insecurity affect many families. Anidan provides children with a safe home, healthcare and education, while working with local communities to create better opportunities.
Its reception home cares for around 285 children who are orphaned or have experienced abuse, offering protection, essential care and support for their schooling. In collaboration with the Pablo Horstmann Foundation, Anidan also maintains a paediatric hospital that treats children free of charge and serves the wider Lamu area. Community initiatives include assistance to families, microcredit for women, access to drinking water in remote villages and support for rural schools.
Anidan Italia invites individuals and businesses to contribute through regular or one-time donations, child sponsorship, scholarships, fundraising and volunteering. The organisation also promotes partnerships and charitable initiatives to help sustain its projects.
