Animal-Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado (AATPC) is a nonprofit community mental health clinic based on a 3.5-acre ranch in Arvada, Colorado. Its mission is to provide and promote animal-assisted psychotherapy, supporting healing for people while also benefiting rescued animals. The clinic brings together licensed, experienced clinicians and more than 30 rescued therapy animals in a peaceful setting.
AATPC offers psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, including individual, child, adolescent, adult, couple and family, filial pet, and group therapy. Clients can attend in person at the ranch or access telehealth services. The organization also provides professional development for clinicians and agencies interested in animal-assisted psychotherapy, including training intensives, internships, a certificate in animal-assisted psychotherapy, coaching and consultation, and agency training and team building.
Community members can support its work by donating, volunteering, sponsoring an animal, or participating in Pack Pals. Through therapy and education, AATPC advances its guiding idea: “Rescued Animals Rescuing People.”.
