Anime Detour

Anime Detour is Minnesota’s largest and longest-running anime convention, presented by the nonprofit organization Anime Twin Cities, Inc. Established in 2004, the three-day event celebrates Japanese culture, with a focus on anime and manga, through cultural, educational, and entertainment programming. The 2027 convention is scheduled for March 26–28 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis.

The convention offers a broad program for fans and visitors. Activities include panels, video screenings, photo shoots, room parties, and appearances by voice actors, cosplay artists, DJs, industry guests, and other special guests. Attendees can take part in contests such as the AMV Contest and Cosplay Masquerade, as well as tabletop and video gaming sessions and tournaments. Shopping opportunities include Anime Detour merchandise, an Artist Alley, and an Exhibitor Hall.

Anime Detour also invites community participation through panel submissions, room parties, volunteering, and public planning meetings. The organization provides information about registration, travel, accessibility, accommodations, and venue details, helping attendees plan their visit and engage with the convention.
