About Aninat Galería
Aninat Galería is a Chilean contemporary art gallery founded by Isabel Aninat, a Philosophy and Aesthetics graduate. Established in 1982 during the Pinochet dictatorship, the gallery aimed to create a platform for debate, commercialization, and critical reflection on contemporary art and new media in Santiago de Chile. Representing both established and emerging artists, Aninat Galería focuses on conceptual practices that engage with social, political, and contemporary issues. Their annual program aims to rediscover and showcase the work of lesser-known historical artists who have made significant contributions to the art world.
Under the direction of Javiera García-Huidobro and Isabel Aninat, the gallery boasts three exhibition spaces: a flexible 200m² main gallery, a cabinet displaying documents and references of artists, and a unique piece area for experimental projects. Aninat Galería also expands its reach through collaborations with international galleries, curators, institutions, and collectors. With a long-standing presence in international fairs, the gallery has successfully facilitated acquisitions by prominent institutions. This website not only provides information about the gallery but also incorporates extracts from historical texts related to the artists they represent.
