Anta Ancona

Gattile “Il Rifugio” di Ancona is a volunteer-run cat shelter managed by the Ancona branch of A.N.T.A. ODV, a nonprofit association dedicated to animal protection and the dignity of animal life. The shelter cares for cats affected by illness, disability, mistreatment or abandonment, including animals who have lost the security of a family home. Its work aims to support their wellbeing and help create a respectful relationship between people and animals.

The organization introduces cats seeking permanent homes and provides information about the adoption process. For people unable to bring a cat home, it also offers distance adoption: supporters receive the cat’s photograph, story and an adoption certificate. Distance adoption does not prevent the cat from being adopted by a family, and supporters can choose another cat or end the arrangement if their chosen cat leaves the shelter.

The website also shares guidance on cat care, health, communication and safe homes.
