About Antarctic Glaciers
AntarcticGlaciers.org is an award-winning educational and science communication website focused on glaciers, ice sheets, climate change and glacial landscapes. It explains the science of Antarctica and other regions through accessible articles on glacier processes, ice-stream flow, ice shelves, glacier mass balance, recent environmental change and past glacial geology. The site also explores the Antarctic, Greenland, Patagonian and British-Irish ice sheets, drawing on evidence from landforms, ice cores and sediment records to explain past climates and changing ice dynamics.
Resources include science themes, a glossary, answers to questions and opportunities to ask a scientist. For schools and educators, the website offers teaching materials, post-16 and A-Level content, and an Antarctica StoryMap series with a scheme of work and teaching guide. Additional StoryMaps cover Greenland’s landscapes and exploration, while the Deplete and Retreat project examines glaciers and water resources in the Andes. By connecting glaciology with climate, oceans, sea level and water availability, AntarcticGlaciers.org helps students, teachers and general readers understand why ice matters and how it is changing.
