Antigone, associazione “per i diritti e le garanzie nel sistema penale”, è nata alla fine degli anni ottanta nel solco della omonima rivista contro l’emergenza promossa, tra gli altri, da Massimo Cacciari, Stefano Rodotà e Rossana Rossanda. E’ un’associazione politico-culturale a cui aderiscono prevalentemente magistrati, operatori penitenziari, studiosi, parlamentari, insegnanti e cittadini che a diverso titolo si interessano di giustizia penale.

About AssociazioneAntigone
Antigone is an association that focuses on the rights and guarantees in the criminal justice system, with its roots going back to the late 1980s. The association is made up of a diverse group of individuals, including judges, prison workers, scholars, parliamentarians, teachers, and concerned citizens, all with an interest in criminal justice. Antigone's work spans various areas, including publishing, prison support services, and advocacy.
They also offer services such as the Ombudsman, the publication of a magazine, and jailhouse rock sports programs. Antigone aims to bring attention to issues within the Italian prison system, such as overcrowding, poor living conditions for inmates, and increased rates of suicide. The association is currently running a Universal Civil Service project aimed at safeguarding the rights of people deprived of their freedom.
They are seeking volunteers to join this effort and help make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by these issues. Antigone's work is crucial in shedding light on the realities of prison life and advocating for meaningful change
