APANAS is a nonprofit association founded in 1992 to represent and defend the rights and interests of people with hearing disabilities and their families. It works with families, public bodies, institutions and partner organizations to promote inclusion and improve access to communication, education and support. The association is connected with FIAPAS, the Spanish Confederation of Families of Deaf People, and HELIX, a federation of associations supporting the integration of deaf people in the Valencian Community.
APANAS provides direct assistance focused on language acquisition and rehabilitation, learning and social skills. Its services include speech and language assessment and therapy; individualized educational guidance and support; extra help with school subjects; and workshops and advice for parents. Through its early intervention service, CDIAT, it supports the detection and treatment of developmental difficulties in young children. The association also offers sign-language interpreting to help deaf and hearing people communicate in different settings. APANAS additionally represents the needs of deaf people and their families, and shares information about its programs, activities and public funding through its website.
