Association pour les personnes ayant une déficience intellectuelle du Suroît

The Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities of the Suroît (APDIS) is a community organization dedicated to promoting social participation and greater autonomy for people living with an intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorder. Through its initiatives, APDIS supports inclusion and helps people build confidence and everyday skills for living within their community.

A central project is Défi-Logis Suroît, an eight-apartment building created for residents with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, it provides a stable, permanent living environment that balances privacy and social connection with daily support. The project is designed to foster autonomy and a stimulating community life.

APDIS also organizes APDIS en musique, a two-evening summer concert event at Parc Delpha-Sauvé in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, featuring performances by well-known Québec artists. Proceeds support the association’s work. Community members can contribute by becoming APDIS members or making a donation. The organization also shares information about its programs, employment opportunities, and applications to become a Défi-Logis Suroît tenant.
