APEA, the Portuguese Association of Environmental Engineering, is a public-benefit organisation founded on 23 October 1985. Guided by the principle “Engineering at the service of the Environment,” it brings together members and partners around the environmental engineering profession and related areas of practice. The association supports professional development and engagement through information about the profession, higher education, areas of activity, and the Portuguese Order of Engineers. APEA also offers opportunities to become a member and highlights benefits for its members, alongside partnerships and sponsorship initiatives.

Training is a central part of its programme. Courses and masterclasses have covered nature-based solutions in urban ecosystems, carbon footprint assessment, and GRI standards for preparing sustainability reports. Sessions have been offered online and in locations including Porto and Oeiras. APEA also shares news and event information through its website and maintains an agenda of activities. Based in Lisbon, the association serves as a point of connection for people and organisations interested in environmental engineering, professional learning, and environmental issues.
