About Water Journalists
Apes Reporting Project, formerly known as Big Gorillas Story Project, is a project under Water Journalists Africa focused on conserving Apes and their habitats in Africa through journalism. This initiative aims to dispel common misconceptions about Apes by uniting conservation journalists from over 50 African countries. By informing, educating, and inspiring passion for conservation, the project strives to protect endangered Apes and their environments.
It also seeks to enhance Apes' conservation coverage and amplify local voices in the global discourse on Apes conservation. Water Journalists Africa, the parent organization, is the continent's largest network of journalists reporting on water-related issues. Established in 2011 in Cape Town, South Africa, with support from the UN-Water Decade Programme, WJA is a registered NGO committed to advocating for water issues in Africa.
