APHVE

The Association des personnes handicapées visuelles de l’Estrie (APHVE) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1977 to bring together people with visual impairments in Quebec’s Estrie region. It works to defend their collective rights and improve quality of life by supporting social, professional and community inclusion. APHVE offers members a place to connect, share experiences and find support, listening and guidance.

Its activities include meetings that help reduce social isolation, along with information and resources on a range of topics. The organization’s website provides practical documentation and links, as well as guidance on vision loss, safe mobility and tools that can make daily life easier. APHVE also publishes Le Nouveau Regard, a journal available online in audio and PDF formats.

Its offerings include a large-print calendar designed for readability and note-taking. Through news, events and awareness efforts, APHVE promotes accessibility, equal opportunity and a more inclusive Estrie. It also shares information about the free Secours adapté program, which helps eligible people with significant physical disabilities receive appropriate assistance during an emergency
