APOYO Community

APOYO, short for Allied People Offering Year-Round Outreach, is a community organization serving Central Washington since the mid-1990s. Its mission is to empower people through essential resources, advocacy, information, and opportunities to build community, while celebrating the histories and cultures of immigrants and Latinx communities. Known for its welcoming food pantry and Community Closet, APOYO provides nutritious, culturally relevant food and clothing, referrals to other services, and translation assistance.

The organization also supports community health through vaccination clinics, health screenings, wellness workshops, and advocacy grounded in social justice and sustainability. Aventureros de APOYO offers children and families outdoor experiences focused on learning about the environment. Its youth programs provide peer connection, mentorship, internships, fitness activities, and opportunities for civic and political participation. APOYO also works with Central Washington University to create educational projects and student internships, and organizes cultural events and celebrations. Volunteers, donors, and sponsors can support its work, including plans for a Community Outreach Center intended as a safe space for people to meet material and cultural needs and strengthen community life.
