APPAM, the Association for Public Policy Analysis & Management, is a member-driven organization dedicated to improving public policy and management through excellence in research, analysis, and education. Formed in 1979 by representatives of policy schools and research institutes, it brings together academics, researchers, practitioners, students, and institutions. APPAM supports this community with professional, student, institutional, and retired memberships, offering opportunities to connect, contribute, and develop leadership experience.

The association’s programs include the Fall Research Conference, online events, webinars, virtual office hours, mentoring, career resources, and student initiatives. Members can share research, build professional networks, and engage with current policy topics through communities, listservs, and volunteer activities. APPAM also publishes the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management (JPAM) and is introducing the Journal of Policy Implementation & Evaluation (JPIE). Its news, podcast, awards, fellowships, and professional development resources further support learning and exchange across the field. Through these services and activities, APPAM connects people and organizations working to advance policy research and practice.
