About APPEALS Project
APPEALS Project is a six-year initiative developed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), in collaboration with the World Bank and other stakeholders. Aligned with the Agricultural Promotion Policy (APP) 2016-2020, also known as the Green Alternative, the project aims to support the Nigerian government's goals of achieving food security, promoting local production, creating jobs, and diversifying the economy. The Green Alternative focuses on three key areas: Productivity Enhancement, Crowding in Private Investment, and FMARD Institutional Realignment.
APPEALS Project will contribute to these areas by improving agricultural productivity, enhancing farmers' linkages with agro processors, and transitioning small subsistence farmers to a market-oriented approach. Additionally, the project will provide support to middle-sized farmers, addressing their constraints and increasing their productivity. Building on the success of the Business Alliance Model implemented under the Commercial Agriculture Development Project (CADP), APPEALS Project aims to scale up this model.
