About AppleAtcha Orchards
AppleAtcha is an innovative agricultural development project located in Eastern Kentucky, focusing on transforming over 1,000 acres of reclaimed surface coal mining land into a high-density apple orchard. As a part of the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, AppleAtcha aims to enhance both local agriculture and the economy by creating a sustainable and vibrant apple industry in Appalachia.
Featuring a vertically integrated approach, the project encompasses an orchard, packaging, storage facilities, and in-house sales and marketing. With its advanced trellis system, AppleAtcha can cultivate between 1,000 to 2,500 dwarf trees per acre, significantly increasing yield quality and profitability compared to traditional orchards. As a testament to its commitment, the first 60 acres are already in full operation with plans for additional planting in the coming years.
AppleAtcha is further strengthened by a partnership with Community at the Core, a non-profit organization dedicated to building facilities for apple storage and processing, ensuring year-round supply and supporting Kentucky’s rise as a top apple-producing state.
