AppleTree Stud

Apple Tree Stud is a boutique thoroughbred breeding operation based at Lower Farm in Icomb, in the North Cotswolds, around three miles southeast of Stow-on-the-Wold. Established in 2014, the farm spans 120 acres of pasture and is run by former National Hunt jockey Robert “Choc” Thornton. The stud’s aim is to build a carefully selected broodmare band and breed high-quality stock with the goal of producing top-class racehorses. Its work focuses on flat racehorse breeding, with integrity and transparency presented as central principles.

Apple Tree Stud provides information about its broodmares and their matings, as well as horses in training and their trainers. The farm also shares updates on yearlings, foals and other young stock. Alongside breeding, the business buys and sells yearlings and foals, and says it is considering investment opportunities for the future. Its experienced team emphasizes care and attention to detail across the operation, supporting the development and potential of its horses.
