Archipelago Pares r. f. is an Åland-based association founded on March 10, 2017, by nature-minded residents seeking to advance wildlife and environmental conservation and preserve the archipelago’s intangible cultural heritage.
It has since grown organically and carried out projects across these fields, aiming to make a practical difference through innovation, collaboration and commitment to local nature. Its work focuses particularly on seabirds, seals and invasive predators, with the eider duck central to its conservation efforts. Through Ådans Vänner, the association supports seabird management using measures such as eider shelters and wardens, and offers Ådsafari, a guided small-group boat experience to the eider colony at Båtskären near Mariehamn.
The safari includes boat transport, flotation suits, meals and a guide, alongside nature and local history. The association also works to combat invasive predators, which it considers a critical threat to island biodiversity, and addresses seal-related issues through its work on seal hunting in Åland. Archipelago Pares invites supporters to learn more and become members
