The Australasian Plastics and Rubber Institute (APRI) is an independent professional body connecting people across Australia and New Zealand who work in plastics, rubber and allied polymer industries. Established in 1945, the Institute advances polymer science and technology and is governed by an Australasian Council, with financial members able to vote and stand for Council.
APRI serves researchers, engineers, manufacturers, educators and students through professional membership, technical learning and industry connections. Members receive a quarterly journal featuring technical papers, research and industry news, and can attend seminars, meetings and networking events at member rates. The Institute also nominates members to Standards Australia’s polymer technical committees, helping the industry contribute to the standards it uses.
APRI offers Associate (AAPRI) and Fellow (FAPRI) grades, awarded on application in recognition of relevant experience and qualifications. Its Council presents the George Milne Medal for significant contributions to the Institute and industry. Membership starts at $20 a year and includes voting rights and a place on the Institute’s Australasian polymer industry register.
