April's Acres

April’s Acres is a small farm in Lakeland, Florida, offering equine-assisted therapy and opportunities for families to meet its animals. Its therapy program includes assisted riding and non-riding activities with horses. The program is currently full, but interested visitors may contact the farm to ask about joining the waiting list. April’s Acres also hosts family farm tours on weekends and special events by appointment, providing a chance to spend time with the animals and learn about the farm.

The herd includes horses such as Romeo, a former Amish cart horse; Onyx, a retired Thoroughbred who participates in therapy; Skipper, an Arabian-Quarter Horse cross learning to give rides to children; and Seven, a small pony settling into a therapy role. The farm is also home to donkeys Mae and Leo, as well as goats Blossom and Kevin. April’s Acres is named for April, the horse who started the farm and is remembered with affection.
