About African Pharmaceutical Technology Foundation
The African Pharmaceutical Technology Foundation (APTF) is dedicated to enhancing the pharmaceutical sector in Africa by building capacities within companies, research institutions, and governments. Established as an independent agency by the African Development Bank, APTF collaborates with governments, regional organizations, and industry associations to improve access to technologies vital for developing and manufacturing medicines, vaccines, and diagnostics. The Foundation's governance structure includes an Eminent Advisory Council, with members such as President Paul Kagame, and a Board of Directors guiding its programs.
APTF envisions a vibrant African pharmaceutical industry capable of manufacturing essential products for the continent. Led by CEO Prof. Padmashree Gehl Sampath, APTF operates from its Secretariat in Kigali, Rwanda.
Through its strategic initiatives and partnerships, APTF aims to create a healthy and competitive pharmaceutical market in Africa
