About AQUADAPT
AQUADAPT is a leading brand that focuses on the adaptation of the aquaculture sector in mainland Southeast Asia to climate change while ensuring sustainability. This program, led by the Unit for Social and Environmental Research (USER) at Chiang Mai University, has received primary funding from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in Canada. The initial phase of AQUADAPT, from July 2012 to December 2016, concentrated on Tilapia farming in farm ponds and floating cages in Northern Thailand.
The current phase, AQUADAPT-Mekong, has a broader geographical scope and includes activities in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. AQUADAPT-Mekong aims to support fish farmers in these countries in managing climate-related risks and enhancing their capacity to adapt to climate change. The program achieves this by jointly evaluating and promoting the development or adoption of innovative practices.
