Aquanta

Aquanta develops smart controls that make existing electric and gas water heaters more efficient and convenient. Its Wi-Fi-enabled controller retrofits to a standard water heater, offering many smart features at a lower cost than replacing the appliance with a smart water heater. Designed to work with nearly all electric models and most gas models, Aquanta can be installed in six steps and managed through a smartphone app.

The system learns household hot-water patterns and adjusts heating schedules to help ensure hot water is available when needed while reducing unnecessary heating. Users can check estimated hot-water availability, review energy use and trends, set schedules, and switch the heater on or off remotely. Aquanta also integrates with Amazon Alexa and IFTTT. Safety and monitoring features include automatic shutoff if the tank overheats and phone alerts when an optional leak sensor detects moisture. The company offers its controller for purchase, along with installation guidance, FAQs, utility information, and customer support.
