About Aquarium Pula
Aquarium Pula is Croatia’s largest aquarium, located in the southern part of Pula within the historic Austro-Hungarian fortifications of Verudela and San Giovanni. For more than 20 years, it has brought together marine life and cultural heritage in a distinctive visitor experience. Its exhibits present habitats and species from the Adriatic and Mediterranean, alongside tropical marine, tropical freshwater, and cold freshwater environments. Visitors can also explore a jellyfish breeding unit, a seasonal tropical butterfly exhibition, and Gallerion, featuring models of historic Austro-Hungarian naval vessels.
Aquarium Pula offers tickets, group visits, daily activities, and visitor information to help guests plan their visit. Behind the scenes, its work includes breeding, research, and conservation. The aquarium supports projects to protect threatened Adriatic species, including loggerhead sea turtles and the critically endangered noble pen shell, and operates a recovery centre for injured turtles. By purchasing a ticket, visitors help support these conservation activities. Aquarium Pula combines education, animal care, and heritage within the setting of historic coastal defenses.
