AREA Asociația Română pentru Encefalită Autoimună is the first organization in Romania dedicated to patients with autoimmune encephalitis and their families. Our mission is to provide support, education, and advocacy for those affected by this condition. Autoimmune encephalitis is a group of diseases characterized by inflammation of the brain, which occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the nerve cells in the brain.

This can result in a wide range of neurological and psychiatric symptoms. While the exact cause is often unknown, the condition can be associated with infections or the presence of tumors.
