About Arab Federation of Capital Markets
The Arab Federation of Capital Markets (AFCM) is a leading industry group that oversees the Arab stock exchanges and clearing houses. Established in 1978, the AFCM promotes harmonized and proactive regulations, facilitates cooperative opportunities, and fosters knowledge transfer among its members. With its headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon, the AFCM brings together 17 exchanges, 8 clearing houses, and numerous affiliate members from the GCC, Levant, and Arab African countries.
The mission of the AFCM is to create a transparent environment, develop market members, and reduce barriers to security trading across Arab countries. By adopting new technologies and advanced trading and clearing settlements, the AFCM aims to enhance the value of Arab stock markets. The federation's vision includes the exchange of views, collaborative opportunities, knowledge transfer through workshops and conferences, and the development of legislations in Arab financial markets.
Led by a dedicated team, the AFCM works closely with its full members, including prominent exchanges like the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and the Qatar Stock Exchange, as well as central securities depositories such as the Kuwait Clearing Company and MAROCLEAR. The federation also has a wide network of affiliate members, including financial institutions and brokerage firms, who contribute to its mission. With its commitment to promoting cooperation and enhancing the Arab capital markets, the AFCM plays a pivotal role in the region's financial landscape.
