Archaeopteryx is the leading veterinary study association dedicated to birds and exotic animals in Utrecht, known as Veterinaire vereniging Archaeopteryx | Utrecht. For over 30 years, our mission has been to promote knowledge and awareness of these animal groups among students at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. With a membership of over 1,300 veterinarians, Veterinary Medicine students, and other enthusiasts, we strive to contribute to the professionalization of future veterinarians and raise the standard of patient care for exotic species.

We offer a wide range of activities, including lectures, workshops, symposia, and excursions, all organized in collaboration with our active members. These activities provide valuable information and learning opportunities for anyone interested in exotic animal species. We also facilitate internships and connections with specialists, allowing students to develop their skills and expertise in this field.

To cater to the diverse range of animal species, we have established five working groups focused on different categories of animals. In addition, we have committees that handle larger projects across the various areas of our association. Join us and become a member to gain access to our enriching activities and contribute to the preservation and care of wildlife.

Together, we can educate the next generation of conservationists and ensure the well-being of exotic animals
