L’Arche en France is part of a network of communities built around shared life between people with and without intellectual disabilities. Its approach emphasizes mutual relationships, inclusion, friendship and the opportunity for each person to contribute, develop autonomy and grow in self-esteem. Communities offer supported living and shared daily activities, alongside opportunities to get involved through employment, volunteering, training, internships and solidarity housing.
At L’Arche au Havre, also known as l’Ancre Océane, the first shared home opened in June 2025. It welcomes ten adults with intellectual disabilities and brings them together with a student, an older person and a shared-life facilitator. The community is developing plans for two more homes in Seine-Maritime.
L’Arche invites individuals and businesses to support its work through one-time or recurring donations, fundraising events, philanthropy and corporate partnerships. Contributions help fund community events, training for young assistants, communications that showcase people’s talents, and support for more vulnerable members of the wider network.
