About Archipelagos
Archipelagos is a Greek non-profit, non-governmental organization that focuses on studying and protecting the unique biodiversity of the Greek seas and islands. Since 1998, our researchers and volunteers have been working tirelessly alongside threatened ecosystems, safeguarding marine and terrestrial biodiversity. Through applied scientific research, education, and conservation actions, we aim to actively involve local communities in our efforts.
Our collaboration with local authorities and societies allows us to create a strategic foundation that facilitates and strengthens our actions at the local, national, and European levels. This enables us to protect both marine and terrestrial biodiversity from increasing human intervention. Our areas of focus include the protection of marine mammals, marine ecosystems, terrestrial ecosystems, university education, activation of local communities, and awareness-raising activities.
We also utilize our scientific knowledge to develop pilot management and protection plans for the Aegean region, with the aim of expanding these efforts to other areas of Greek and Eastern Mediterranean seas. Join us in our mission to protect the natural resources of our beautiful planet
