AAP – Archive Artist Publications is an independent archive in Munich dedicated to artists’ books, mail art and other forms of artist publication. Its collection documents creative practices that emerged especially from the mid-1970s, when artists increasingly used accessible, low-cost media to publish and circulate work beyond conventional institutions. Materials range from zines, multiples and cassette recordings to postcards, posters, photographs, artists’ books and ephemera.

The archive’s online catalogue offers free research across more than 107,000 registered items. Users can search titles, artists, publishers, places, dates, keywords and other catalogue details, or browse listings of people, countries, collections, languages and periodicals. Selected objects may be consulted in person by arrangement. Through its collection and research tools, AAP supports artists, researchers and interested members of the public in exploring alternative forms of artistic production, distribution and exchange. The archive is seeking a new location and institutional partner that can help keep the collection accessible to the public.
