Archives

The National Archives of Korea is the government institution responsible for preserving and providing access to Korea’s public records and historical materials. Its online portal helps citizens, researchers, and public-sector professionals discover records through integrated, subject-based, and archival-description searches. Collections include general and audiovisual records, government publications, maps, historical documents, and materials related to major events and periods in Korean history. Users can explore digital and exhibition collections, view records available online, and learn how to request copies or access materials.

The institution also supports the full lifecycle of records management. It provides standards, guidelines, manuals, training resources, professional qualification services, and information on preservation, restoration, disclosure review, and electronic records. Additional public services include archive tours, exhibitions, publication registration, records donation guidance, open data and API information, and routes for information requests and public inquiries. Through news, educational content, and featured archival stories, the National Archives connects people with the records that document Korea’s government, society, and history.
