Arctic BIOSCAN

Arctic BIOSCAN (ARCBIO) is a pioneering research initiative that blends the rich local knowledge of Indigenous communities with cutting-edge DNA technology to enhance our understanding of Arctic biodiversity. As part of the global BIOSCAN program led by the iBOL Consortium, ARCBIO focuses on monitoring ecological changes in the Canadian Arctic. The project empowers participation from both professional and citizen scientists while ensuring that the research respects local land use and cultural practices.

Through collaboration with key partners such as Polar Knowledge Canada and the University of Guelph, ARCBIO leverages advanced DNA barcoding techniques for species identification and biodiversity analysis.
