Arctic Centre conducts multidisciplinary research in changes in the Arctic region. It is located in the Arktikum House, Rovaniemi, Finland and is a national and international hub of Arctic information and activities. The Arctic Centre improves a comprehensive understanding of the Arctic through research and science communication. Our strength is in a unique combination of high quality multidisciplinary research and the capability to share research-based knowledge with the public and decision-makers. Our top-level research combines approaches from the human, social, legal and natural sciences, often in multidisciplinary projects and in co-production with local, regional, national and international stakeholders. Through the Arktikum Science Centre and science communication activities we increase knowledge and further a comprehensive understanding of the changing Arctic. The Arctic Centre produces Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conferences, which are the leading Arctic events in Finland.

About Arctic Centre
Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland is a renowned hub of information and excellence, conducting multidisciplinary research focused on the Arctic region. Led by Dr. Johanna Ikävalko, the centre explores social, political, and environmental issues through four main research programs: Arctic politics and development, Arctic societies, global change, and just green transition.
The Arctic Studies Programme offers an in-depth look at Circumpolar North issues through educational initiatives. Additionally, the Science Communication team works diligently to disseminate Arctic-related information to experts, decision-makers, and the public. Nestled in the Arktikum House in Rovaniemi, Finland, the Science Centre showcases interactive exhibitions on Arctic research, welcoming over 100,000 visitors annually.
Engaging in regional, national, and international collaborations, the Arctic Centre is a prominent player in the global dialogue on Arctic affairs, contributing expertise to various organizations like the European Polar Board and the China-Nordic Research Center
