About AREI
AREI (Africa Renewable Energy Initiative) is a transformational initiative founded and led by Africa to accelerate, intensify, and utilize the enormous potential of renewable energies on the continent. The initiative focuses on developing integrated solutions to increase access to clean energy services, enhance human well-being, and put African countries on the path to sustainable and climate-resilient development. Launched in 2015, AREI's goal was to install 10 GW of renewable energy from sources by 2020 (Phase I - Achieved) and at least 300 GW by 2030.
Under the mandate of the African Union, approved by the Heads of States, AREI has a Board of Directors. The initiative's official website provides information about strategy, projects, partners, and the latest news. AREI aims to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future for Africa
