Arendals Bryggeri, established in 1839, is a renowned brand known for its wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Originally located in a former distillery in Kittelsbukt, Arendals Bryggeri quickly became popular in Arendal due to the city's bustling maritime activity. The brand initially specialized in traditional top-fermented beers like skibsøl, pottøl, and well-sweetened and bitter-sweetened varieties.
However, as the art of brewing evolved, Arendals Bryggeri embraced the trend of bottom-fermented Lager beers. In 1846, they introduced their first Lager, following the taste preferences and market demands of the time. Over the years, Arendals Bryggeri has received numerous awards and accolades for their brews, earning them the title of Norway's proudest brewery.
