Arendal Vinterfestival is a broad winter festival in Arendal, Norway, bringing together activities and cultural experiences for children, young people and adults. Held in January or February, it gathers events across the city under one festival umbrella, aiming to bring life, light and enjoyment to Arendal during the winter months. The festival has presented a varied program, including an ice rink, children’s ski races, costume treasure hunts, ice swimming, floating saunas, winter paddling, food experiences, art exhibitions, concerts and ice sculpture activities.
Current offerings include a kindergarten day, a children’s festival day, music, theatre, beginner figure skating, pub-to-pub events, minigolf and competitions. The festival has been held for 11 consecutive years, with a pause in 2021; 2022 marked its tenth anniversary. Since 2023, Arendal By AS has administered the festival.
Local organizers are invited to contribute events, projects and ideas. Each organizer is responsible for operating and financing its own activity, while Arendal By AS coordinates the festival as a whole
