AREUS, or Azienda Regionale Emergenza Urgenza Sardegna, was established by regional law to ensure a cohesive emergency and urgent healthcare service throughout Sardinia. Recognized under the Law No. 24 of September 2020, AREUS is dedicated to managing the emergency medical response via the 118 service, which includes both ground and air transport facilities. Their comprehensive offerings encompass blood transport services, secondary patient transfers, and logistical support for transplant activities.

Their commitment is evident in services like the DAE (Defibrillatori Semiautomatici Esterni) initiative, which promotes cardiac emergency preparedness across the region.
