Ari Tison is an award-winning Bribri author and poet whose writing spans children’s, young adult, and adult audiences. Her work draws on Indigenous perspectives, community, family, and cultural heritage, and has appeared in national magazines and widely distributed anthologies. Her poem “The Storyteller Gets Her Name” is included in a national K–4 English language arts curriculum.

Tison’s books include the young adult novel Saints of the Household, a multi-award-winning work recognized with the Walter Dean Myers Award, Pura Belpré Award, Amelia Walden Award, and Américas Award, among other honors. Her 2026 novel Together We See is an Indigenous murder mystery set in Costa Rica, following a Bribri-American teenager seeking answers about her activist father’s death. Her other projects include the co-edited poetry anthology WITNESS and the forthcoming picture book When I Was A Little Girl.

Alongside her writing, Tison teaches in Hamline University’s MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults.
