Arkadia Onlus

Arkadia APS is a nonprofit organisation working to promote autonomy and social inclusion for people with disabilities in the Valdarno Aretino area of Italy. Founded in 2009, it challenges standardised approaches to disability by recognising each person’s preferences, abilities and right to make choices. Its socio-educational programmes are shaped through ongoing collaboration among participants, educators and families, with goals and activities adapted to individual needs.

Arkadia offers personalised pathways and activities that help participants develop independence, skills and meaningful life projects. Its work also extends into the wider community, encouraging inclusion beyond protected settings. Activities include sports, creative workshops and cooking courses led by professionals with educators acting as facilitators; some courses are open to everyone. The organisation also runs projects and events, including theatre and football initiatives, and shares updates through its website and newsletter.

Arkadia welcomes volunteers, university interns and school students undertaking work-related learning, and invites businesses and individuals to support its programmes.
