Arkipelagia-seura is a Finnish association founded in 1992 by people who value the nature and culture of the Archipelago Sea. Its work focuses on protecting the region’s natural and cultural heritage, supporting the care of its environments, and promoting nature monitoring and research. The association also helps make knowledge about the archipelago’s diverse landscapes, wildlife and history more accessible.
As a friend association of the Archipelago National Park, Arkipelagia-seura organizes activities and practical conservation projects across the region. Members can join guided trips to island destinations, volunteer habitat-care work and seasonal monitoring of birds and threatened plants. The association has worked to restore habitats for the orchid known as Adam and Eve, as well as for Apollo butterflies, including by clearing overgrown meadows. It also holds winter gatherings featuring expert talks on local nature, history and culture, and publishes material such as a booklet about the orchid.
