Arnes Diablo

Baraw Sugbo, originally known as Arnes Diablo, is a Filipino martial art focused on unarmed defense against knife attacks. The organization presents the system as a practical method for responding to committed knife thrusts and other attacks. Its history is traced to Cebu eskrimador Lorenzo “Ensong” Saavedra and a lineage of practitioners that includes Simo Saavedra, Lucresio “Ukit” Albano, and Gregorio “Goyong” Ceniza. Today, the system is taught by Goyong Ceniza’s son, Grandmaster Eduardo “Boy” Ceniza, who teaches in Mandaue, Cebu, and conducts seminars internationally.

Training is organized into four levels: Metodo, which covers disarms against predefined attack angles; Palakaw, which introduces countering and changing positions; Kuridas, which practices responses to random, continuing attacks; and Juego Todo, which integrates the earlier levels at full speed and may include throws, head butts, and ground techniques. Baraw Sugbo offers instruction through a qualified instructor network spanning several countries, as well as private lessons and group seminars arranged directly with Grandmaster Ceniza. The organization also provides an online course.
